----- From: Eric I have a 14dBi Yagi and a 15dBi Parabolic antenna, both for the 802.11b radio range, and I'm willing to let you borrow them, as long as I get them back. Both have N connectors. If anyone wants me to I can bring a Pentium-2 350 and mobo to the con, also the following cards: Combination Thinnet/Eithernet 3Com 905B 10/100 3Com 10BaseT ----- From: Frank Romeo Here's what I've got so far: 1) Linksys WAP11 Access Point - I'm thinking of buying a second and an omnidirectional antenna - those guys at NYCWireless got me thinking :) 2) Misc. Hubs a. The cabletron monster I brought last year 10mb. - If we need it +great, if not I wont bring it this time - its heavy! b. 16 Port rack mount 10mb. c. 8 Port desktop 10mb. 3) Switches a. The 8 port cabletron I brought last year 10mb. (8 Twisted Pair, 8 ST fiber, or a combination thereof, if we need to use it) b. 24 port SMC 10mb. 4) Tools - The same box I brought last year 5) Cat 5 cable - We're changing ALL the cables at work, so there should be a few thousand patch cables destined for the dumpster shortly (they dont like yellow anymore, now we're gonna use white) - They range from 15 to 250 feet, all made by Cables Unlimited - I'll follow up with my buddy in network and ask them to put them aside for us. There's probably a few hundred long ones to use as home runs. 6) Fiber - Tell me what you need, if you need it. 7) Brother PTouch label machine - I should have brought this last year. Hindsight. ----- From: "Ronald Johnson" 2 16 Port Bay Access Hubs 10Mbits - Nothing Major 2 16 Port 3Com Hubs 10/100Mbits 2 5 Port LinkSys 100Mbits Switch 1 LinkSys 802.11b Wireless Access Point 1 PCMCIA 3COM 10/100Mbits Card I can also offer Misc CAT 5 Cable, I don't know how much it depends , next July is so far in the future it's hard to tell. Crimping and cable runs, act. ----- From: "" I live in NJ so the commute is minimal. I also have a pickup truck for hauling. ----- From: Mark Yeck I've got a wireless access point i can bring. It should handle 32 users in a +reasonable area. I'm sure we can find other people with em. ----- From: Ken I plan on bringing several bsd based wireless routers and accesspoint... these should handle a moderate amount of users or allow us to do som emid range point links ----- From: dahingos I have a spare pair of fiber transceivers if we need a fiber connection....just plug them into the AUI port on most hubs.... ----- From: "irqconflict at fuse.net" i have about 40 machines i would like to rid myself of most of em are compaq 486 dx2 66 with onboard everything....if i bring these to h2k2 will they be put to use and not end up in a dumpster? i would hate to drag em from cincinnati and then see em end up in a dumpster ----- From: Alex Rubenstein NAC would be happy to donate servers/bankdwidth at our datacenter for real, shoutcase, or even winmedia. ----- From: "Mike Rodancer" 2x Summit 48 switches with gig ports - Useful for providing a high bandwidth connection between upstairs and the main floor. I'll also bring along two 50 meter spools of pre-termed fiber. We can run the video feed on a separate vlan so that stupid children flooding the network won't affect the feed. I've also got a couple of gig xedia units that I can use to move traffic around the network. All of the summit switches will have gig fiber ports. I have a set of UTP to 100mb/fl adaptors and such. We also have an Alteon 180e with 9 gig fiber ports, that we can config as a hub. I have some 2.4ghz commercial "Fly swatter" dishes that could be used +for the uplink to the 18th floor. I have the fittings for the dish end, and I'll pickup the other ends and cable at the Timonium Hamfest in Baltimore on April 6-7. I have a linksys WAP, so I should be able to verify that it works once cabled. We just bought the Excursion, so it looks like we can haul a lot of our gear up to the con. ----- From: doug at h2k2.con.com So the few things I'm interested in setting up in the big space: 1) Big fat X term cluster, about 40 old-school non-386 Xterminals. (this in contrast with Myke's way-less-elite 386 based xterm cluster) 2) Chill space. I just traded mail with the SomaFM people, who would be hip on sponsoring a cluster or two of couches/tables with streamed-in SomaFM tunes (within 802.11 range, of course). 3) Lots of AP's. I've got a crate full of these things, and between myself, Myke, and Mark, we oughta be able to wireless the space up. I could dig up maybe 10 of the Linksys WAP11's. And a few spools of cat5 and crimping materials. One thing I would like to locate before the con is a large hub of some sort, like 96 or 128 ports of 10baseT (Catalyst 5000/6000 series box with a bunch of ether blades would do nicely) ----- From: gir well i am sure i can find up to five spools by then. i also have about 15 12port 10baset hubs.
